Marble Cake

Filed under: Random — by Mona S. @ 1:51 pm

I made this marble cake for a friend of mine last week and then again for my sister today. Both times it turned out pretty fantastic. I wish I had pictures – it was rather pretty.

Marble Cake

1 1/2 c flour

1/2 c butter (unsalted)

1 c sugar

2 eggs

1 c yogurt / sour cream

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

4 squares baking chocolate

Preheat your oven to 180 c and butter your loaf pan.

Beat sugar and butter together until creamy. Add in the eggs, one at a time. Add the yogurt.

In another bowl, sift together the flour, salt and baking soda. Add to the batter and incorporate well. Pour into pan.

In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and pour in a straight line and then using a butter knife or spatula or toothpick, make italic figure eights from one end of the line to the other for a really pretty pattern. Make sure that the butter knife while making the eights touches the bottom of the pan as well.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
